Snickerdoodles are chewy sugar cookies rolled in Cinnamon and Sugar. The secret ingredient is Cream of Tartar, which give them their signature tang.

Snickerdoodles

1 cup Shortening
1 cup Butter
2 tsp Vanilla
3 cups Sugar
4 Eggs
5 1/2 cups Flour
1 tsp Salt
4 tsp Cream of Tartar
2 tsp Baking Soda
6 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Cinnamon

Mix Flour, Salt, Cream of Tartar & Baking Soda in a bowl and set aside. Cream Shortening & Butter together. Add Sugar gradually until well-mixed, followed by Vanilla. Add Eggs, one at a time. Stir in dry ingredients in 3 additions. Chill Dough.

Use small ice cream scoop to portion out dough. Roll cookie balls in Cinnamon & Sugar. Place 2 inches on parchment-lined cookie sheet. Flatten slightly. Bake at 400 degrees for 9 minutes. Cool completely on wire rack before removing from parchment.
